Each year I try to make some New Year’s resolutions. I start out pretty good but usually I end up frustrated or I forget them or I fail! And nobody wants three F’s!
Let me suggest 4 simple resolutions that you may actually be able to keep this coming year.
- Believe: Believe in the capacity of people to do good, believe that you can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Believe that God cares about you and everyone else.
- Behave: Live an honorable life! Do good to others. Live in such a way that others will know that you care, that you focus on others rather than yourself.
- Beware: There are a lot of things that we need to beware of; from the evil french fry to the subtle tempations to take short cuts, to be dishonest, to live life carelessly and without convictions.
- Belong: We need one another, we need community. Do you belong to a group that keeps you accountable, that looks out for you that cares about you as a person? We were not created to live in isolation buy in community!
There you have it! Four simple resolutions/commitments for the new year! BELIEVE, BEHAVE, BEWARE and BELONG! Have a blessed 2009!
